IND-BAN Kanpur Test faces threat [PTI]
The India Vs Bangladesh 2nd Test has come under serious threat, and the security of the Bangladesh side has increased. The Tigers are facing a severe heated amongst the cricket fans in India, and Kanpur has transformed into a 'war zone' ahead of the Test match, schedule to begin from September 27.
Kanpur turns into 'War Zone' for IND-BAN Test match
In several parts of Uttar Pradesh, protests are taking place against the Bangladesh cricket team, and there are threats of violence, and as a result, the security has been umped for the Bangladesh team, who are looking to level the series after losing the opening Test in Chennai.
Additional security will be there at the time of the match, plus, Uttar Pradesh Police are also coordinating with Intelligence Bureau (IB) and State Intelligence Agencies to provide ample security to the visiting side. Interestingly, both the teams will arrive in Kanpur on Tuesday, September 24.
With the ongoing violence in Bangladesh against the Hindu community, the people of UP have decided to protest against the Bangladesh team.
“We are reviewing the security arrangements to leave no stone unturned and confident of getting an adequate police force to meet the requirements,” Kanpur’s Additional Commissioner of Police Harish Chander told PTI.
Security tighten in Team hotel as well
Apart from the stadium, security has also been ramped up in the team hotel. Both India and Bangladesh will stay at the Landmark Hotel in Kanpur, and there will be deployment of snipers, sniffer dogs and bomb squad units.
Moreover, the Bangladesh side cannot leave the premises alone, and will be guarded by Police officials 24*7.
India aim to strengthen position in WTC
India are at the top position in the WTC points table and a win against Bangladesh in the Kanpur Test will further solidify their spot at the top.
Moreover, a win will almost guarantee them a spot in the WTC finale, which will take place in June 2025 at the Lord's Stadium. After the Bangladesh Tests, India will play against New Zealand and Australia, and thus, this game becomes crucial for the Rohit Sharma led side.
