The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction is just around the corner, and the buzz has already started with the next season still 6 months ahead. IPL is the biggest league in the world and the mega auction creates a whole lot of rumours surrounding the signings that a team can make.

The 10 teams will be fighting hard for the title next season, and for that they need to make quality signings during the mega auction. Ahead of the mega auction, which will take place in December, we take a look at 5 dream signings which will send shockwaves to the cricketing fraternity.

Virat Kohli to Mumbai Indians

Highly unlikely to happen, but what if RCB release Virat Kohli ahead of the auctions? This is a purely hypothetical scenario, but if Kohli gets released from his home away from home, Bengaluru, there is a chance that Mumbai Indians will cash in on him.

With rumours that Rohit Sharma is unhappy with the franchise, there is a chance that the former MI skipper might ask for a release. In such a case, the 5-time IPL champions will need to replace their superstar Rohit, with another superstar, and who better than Kohli to come in and change the landscape for the Mumbai side.

Plus, Kohli's gamestyle will suit the flat Wankhede surface, and he can take advantage of the pitch conditions while opening the batting.

Rohit Sharma to Kolkata Knight Riders

As stated before, Rohit is unhappy with the Mumbai franchise since the appointment of Hardik Pandya as their new captain. Rohit led MI to five league titles, but was removed from the captaincy position in an abrupt manner.

The former MI leader would love to be the first retention for the Mumbai team, but with Hardik, Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav ahead in the pecking order, there is a huge chance that he could ask for his release and choose KKR as his next destination.

During IPL 2024, Rohit had a conversation with former KKR assistant coach, Abhishek Nayyar, and he stated that he would love to play for the Knight Riders.

KL Rahul To Royal Challengers Bengaluru

KL Rahul is undoubtedly the most talented batter in the country, but he hasn't justified his talent. Currently the skipper of the Lucknow Super Giants, KL Rahul has had an underwhelming stint with the franchise.

Despite being the top scorer for the LSG side in the last 3 years, KL Rahul's strike rate has come under scrutiny, and in the 2024 season, he had an altercation with team owner, Sanjiv Goenka, which prompted that KL Rahul could leave the team ahead of the mega auction.

His next destination is likely to be his hometown franchise, Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The right-handed batter has already played for RCB, and was a successful opener before parting ways with them in 2018. With Faf du Plessis, most likely not getting retained, KL can also be appointed their new skipper.

Bumrah To Gujarat Titans

The hometown hero returning back to his roots. This is a dream signing for the Gujarat Titans. Mumbai Indians have internal tussle going in their team, and Bumrah was also one of those players who was upset with the appointment of Hardik as the MI captain.

Plus, he is the undisputed champion of the T20 format, and in case MI decide not to make him their first choice retention, he would look to re-start his IPL journey somewhere else, and Gujarat is the perfection destination.

They have an injury prone pace attack, and Bumrah's inclusion will solve that problem, plus GT will be benefited if the hometown hero joins their side.

Rishabh Pant To Chennai Super Kings

Another rumour which has been circulating for the last couple of months. Many believe that just like in Test cricket, Pant is also the successor of MS Dhoni in CSK side. The upcoming IPL season could be the last time we witness MS Dhoni in CSK jersey.

There is a huge chance that the franchise could be looking to replace MSD with a younger keeper, and who better than Rishabh Pant? He can also be touted as the future CSK leader, if the Ruturaj Gaikwad experiment doesn't work.
