MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are three of the biggest superstars to have graced the Indian Premier League (IPL). Their presence is of utmost importance, not only for the league, but for their respective franchises as well.

The three stalwarts are the biggest draw, and without them, the IPL looks empty. Despite Kohli, MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma boasting solid squads, only two of them have tasted success in the league - Rohit and MSD.

While MS Dhoni has won 5 IPL titles with CSK, Rohit has won 5 with Mumbai Indians, and a solitary title with Deccan Chargers. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is still struggling with RCB to win the elusive title missing in his staggering trophy cabinet.

MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli in the same team?

In a recent podcast which featured the great Adam Gilchrist and former English captain, Michael Vaughan, the England legend faced an impossible scenario: where he was asked if MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma played in the same IPL team, who would you play, sell and bench? It was a tricky question for Vaughan, but he handled it nicely, giving the best possible answer.

"Playing MS Dhoni, I don't think anyone's been better." He decided to "sell" Kohli, explaining, "No Virat won't find a place, MS is a captain, I'm getting rid of Virat. I am getting rid of him 'cause he has never won the IPL." Lastly, he opted to "bench" Sharma, said that, "Rohit will be MS's substitute on the bench."

"I can get a good load of cash for him (Kohli). He'll go somewhere else for a huge amount of money. That's good business," he added.

Despite Virat Kohli being the undisputed G.O.A.T when it comes to batting records in IPL, the team stats tells a different story. RCB have reached 3 IPL finals, and have a woeful record, losing all three of them - one to Deccan Chargers, one against CSK, and other one against SRH.

Meanwhile, CSK and MI have been the two best teams in IPL history. Under Rohit's captaincy, Mumbai won 5 IPL titles from 2013-2023, and MS Dhoni has also led CSK to five titles from the league's inception, till 2023.

RCB have a win percentage of less than 50 in IPL history, meanwhile Rohit's M have a win percentage of 55 percent, and MSD betters it all with a win percentage of 58.22
