According to emerging reports, the first batch of Indian players will depart for England on June 6 to participate in the upcoming five-match Test series against the host nation. After Rohit Sharma's retirement, India are set to take on England in the high-profile series under the leadership of a new captain.

Gautam Gambhir To Travel With 1st Batch Of Indian Players On June 6

Although the Indian squad for the England Tests has yet to be picked, the BCCI has started preparations regarding the travel of its players to the European country. As reported by the Times Of India (TOI), head coach Gautam Gambhir will travel with the first batch of selected players on June 6, three days after the IPL 2025 final.

Players, whose IPL teams will get eliminated before or in the playoffs, are set to be included in the first batch of the touring contingent. On the contrary, the players who will stay for the latter phase of the IPL, are likely to travel after a short break.

"The players who get free from the IPL during the league stage are likely to leave with coach Gambhir on June 6. The rest will leave after a short break post the IPL 2025 commitments," a BCCI official was quoted as saying by TOI.

When Will India Squad For England Tour Be Picked?

According to the latest report, the BCCI selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, might pick the India squad for the England Tests around May 23. It has also been reported that the selectors will unveil India's next Test captain through a press conference, either on May 23 or 24.

While Shubman Gill seems the frontrunner to succeed Rohit, the selectors are apparently also considering Jasprit Bumrah for the leadership role.
