As Team India gears up for a crucial Test series against England, head coach Gautam Gambhir was seen visiting Mumbai’s iconic Siddhivinayak Temple on Thursday, accompanied by his wife Natasha.

Gautam Gambhir Seeks Blessing At Siddhivinayak Temple

The couple offered prayers to Lord Ganesha, seeking divine blessings ahead of what is poised to be a transformative chapter in Indian cricket. A video of their temple visit has gone viral, capturing the attention of fans.

It is important to note that the symbolic visit to the Siddhivinayak Temple clearly states Gambhir's spiritual grounding.

Gautam Gambhir Set To Begin New Era

This visit comes as India enters a new era in red-ball cricket, with Gambhir preparing to lead a young and revamped squad during the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. The five-match Test series against England will mark Gambhir's first major assignment as head coach.

It also coincides with the retirement of two of India’s greatest modern Test stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma who recently announced their departures from the format.

With these legendary figures stepping aside, the onus now falls on a new generation to carry the team forward. Shubman Gill is expected to be named the new Test captain, while Rishabh Pant is likely to serve as vice-captain. The duo represents bold shift in leadership one that aligns with Gambhir's reputed no-nonsense, results-driven approach.

Sources within the BCCI indicate that Gambhir is working closely with chief selector Ajit Agarkar to reshape the Test squad. Their shared vision may see Gambhir wield greater influence over team strategy and selection than any Indian head coach in recent memory, especially in the longer format.

The upcoming series against England is about establishing a new identity for Indian Test cricket in the post-Kohli, post-Rohit era.
