According to emerging reports, India will reach Chennai on September 12 for the first Test against Bangladesh. Led by Rohit Sharma, the hosts will actively participate in a five-day training camp to fine-tune themselves before the high-voltage Test series.

The training sessions will witness rigorous practice from the Indian players for the Bangladesh Tests at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. It will be particularly important for the non-Duleep Trophy-bound players who didn't feature in the first round of the domestic competition.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also called up promising domestic spinner Himanshu Singh to challenge the Indian batters with his guile and variations. The 26-year-old emulates Ravichandran Ashwin's bowling action, and chief selector Ajit Agarkar has found him impressive. Therefore, he is expected to help the Indian batters prepare for the Bangladesh spinners, who were prolific in the Pakistan series.

India announce their squad for 1st Test vs Bangladesh

India's Test series against Bangladesh will see the comeback of several marquee players, including Rishabh Pant, who is set to play his first red-ball international match after recovering from a life-threatening accident. Besides grabbing some spectacular catches behind the stumps, the swashbuckling left-handed batter struck a breezy half-century for India B in the Duleep Trophy 2024.

Meanwhile, many fans found Shreyas Iyer's exclusion surprising, given the Mumbai batter's ability to bring up his A-game on turning tracks. Rajat Patidar was sidelined as expected, with Sarfaraz Khan retaining his spot in India's Test squad

The Bangladesh series will also mark the return of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who retired from T20Is following India's triumphant World Cup campaign in the Caribbean. Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested for the Sri Lanka tour, has also been included, with Mohammed Siraj, Yash Dayal and Akash Deep making it into the team as fast bowling reserves.
