On Thursday, July 17, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is busy with its Annual General Meeting (AGM), where several key changes are on the cards. There are reports that the ICC will introduce a two-tier system in Tests, T20 World Cup expansion, and also bring in new associate nations.

Besides the three big decisions on the cards, the report mentioned that the fate of the Asia Cup could also be decided in the ongoing meeting. For the unversed, the Continental Cup is most likely to take place in September, but there is an uncertainty over India's participation.

Notably, earlier, there were reports that because of the heightened tensions, India might pull out of the Asia Cup. However, the news was refuted by the BCCI secretary.

“Since this morning, it has come to our notice about some news items about BCCI’s decision not to participate in the Asia Cup and Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup, both ACC’s events,” Saikia said.

Meanwhile, according to Forbes, the matter is usually up for grabs in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting, but since the matter is big and requires an urgent hearing, it will be taken up at the ICC AGM.

ACC Meeting Likely To Be Pushed Out Of Dhaka

Earlier, there were reports that the discussion regarding the Asia Cup's future will be held at the ACC AGM on July 25.

“An important meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) will be held on July 25–26 in Dhaka… This meeting is likely to decide the fate of the Asia Cup, which is to be hosted by India. India will be represented in the meeting by BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla,” a Gaurav Gupta report stated.

However, the latest development stated that the meeting is most likely to be shifted out of Dhaka because of the political tensions.
