Bangladesh Celebrating - (Source : @LittonDas/X.com)
On Wednesday, July 16, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka locked horns in the third and final T20I of the series, where the visitors stunned the Island Nation and registered an eight-wicket win to clinch the series to their name.
It was a one-sided game as the Tigers were required to just chase 133 runs, but the series was no less than an entertainer as both teams had a win each before the series-decider game. Several records were broken in the recently concluded tour, and here is the list of all the feats.
First-ever T20I Series Win Over Sri Lanka
Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have played seven T20I bilateral series, and it was the first time in history that the Tigers registered a series win over Sri Lanka in the shortest format of the game. Not only that, but it was also Bangladesh's first-ever series win over Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka in any format.
Biggest Wins By Balls vs Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka started the series with a win, but Bangladesh bounced back with two back-to-back wins and that too, comprehensive victories. Talking about the third T20I, the Tigers registered an eight-wicket win and won the game with 21 balls remaining, which is Bangladesh's biggest win by balls remaining against Sri Lanka in T20Is. The previous best was 11 balls in Sylhet last year.
No Luck At Toss For Bangladesh Skipper
Unfortunately, Bangladesh's captain has led Litton Das in nine T20Is and lost all nine tosses as full-time T20I captain.
Mahedi Hasan Shines For Bangladesh
Off-spinner Mahedi Hasan completed 50 T20 Wickets after a four wicket haul in the third T20I, following which he became the fifth Bangladeshi, joining Shakib Al Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, and Shoriful Islam.
New High For Litton Das - The Captain
With this 2-1 series win, Litton Das became the first Bangladeshi captain to win two T20I series abroad. He had earlier led the Tigers to a 3-0 series win over the West Indies in the Caribbean.
Openers Shine For Bangladesh
Tanzid Tamim's unbeaten 73 off 47 balls is the highest score by a Bangladeshi opener against Sri Lanka in T20Is, surpassing Mohammad Naim's 62 off 52 balls in Sharjah during the 2021 T20 World Cup.
