ICC Rejects Champions Trophy Tour In POK; Jay Shah Demands Strict Action Against PCB

Pakistan's decision to announce the Champions Trophy tour in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir has not gone well with BCCI and Jay Shah. Notably, on November 14, the PCB took to Twitter to announce a trophy tour that would begin on November 16 from Islamabad. In the tweet, they also mentioned a few regions that fall under POK. 

"Get ready, Pakistan! The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 trophy tour kicks off in Islamabad on 16 November, also visiting scenic travel destinations like Skardu, Murree, Hunza and Muzaffarabad. Catch a glimpse of the trophy which Sarfaraz Ahmed lifted in 2017 at The Oval, from 16-24 November," tweeted PCB.

Jay Shah Demands Strict Action Against PCB

As soon as they made the announcement, the ICC strictly declined PCB's proposed plan and told them not to hold any such tour in a disputed area. In the latest events, Times of India have reported that Jay Shah is furious with PCB's tactics and has written to ICC demanding a strict action against PCB.

"Jay Shah has raised the matter with the International Cricket Council (ICC), urging the body to take appropriate action in light of the BCCI’s concerns over territorial integrity and political interference in sports," source quoted.

ICC Writes To BCCI Asking About India's Withdrawal From Champions Trophy 2025

In a significant development, there are reports that the ICC has bowed down to PCB's request and have sought a written explanation from BCCI over India's stance on not travelling to Pakistan for Champions Trophy 2025.

The PCB are unhappy over the verbal communication and wrote to ICC urging them to seek an explanation from the BCCI. In the latest events, according to a report from Geo News, ICC wants BCCI to give a written explanation, and in case they fail to provide substantiated evidence, they would have to travel to Pakistan. The report also added that the ICC would also look to replace India with another team for the Champions Trophy 2025.
