Pakistan Ministry Reacts To Champions Trophy Row Amid India's Exit Reports

The 2025 Champions Trophy is less than three months away and there is no update regarding the schedule as the PCB awaits India's response in regards to their participation in the upcoming prestigious fifty-over event. 

The latest buzz is that the BCCI has conveyed to the PCB that the Indian government has refused to send the Indian team to Pakistan over security concerns. It has sparked a major row in Pakistan as the PCB is looking to go ahead without India's participation. 

Pakistan's Foreign Ministry Reacts To Champions Trophy Saga

In the latest events, Pakistan's foreign ministry too was asked about the Champions Trophy and their office remarked that they are not involved in any form of diplomatic talks with India regarding this matter. 

 On Thursday, November 14, spokesperson of the Foreign Office, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that no back channel diplomacy was going on with India after the neighbouring country refused to send its cricket team for the Champions Trophy to be held in February-March next year.

“There is no back channel with India to specifically discuss the Champions Trophy and bilateral Cricket between Pakistan and India,” she said.

She added that further details with regards to the holding of the Champions Trophy in Pakistan and the participation of the various teams was available with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which can share any further details. Baloch went on to say that sports events should not be mixed with politics. “Pakistan has always said that sports should not be politicized,” she said.

Row Over Pakistan Hosting The Champions Trophy 2025

With each passing day, there is a new rumour or update regarding Champions Trophy and the latest report is that the BCCI has informed the ICC about its inability to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. The ICC, in turn, has sought a response from the PCB on hosting the tournament in a hybrid model.

 A hybrid model was followed during the Asia Cup last year when India's matches were held in Sri Lanka while other matches were played in Pakistan.The inputs for this article has been taken from PTI.
