In a significant development, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has been spotted bowling in the nets, raising hopes of his return in time for the IPL 2025 playoffs. Currently in Australia recovering from a shoulder injury, Hazlewood’s presence at a practice session was captured in a now-viral video, indicating steady progress in his rehab.

Hazlewood had suffered the shoulder niggle before the tournament was paused due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

In the ongoing season, Josh Hazlewood has been RCB's crucial bowler to watch out for. He has scalped 18 wickets in just 10 matches, playing significant role in RCB’s dominant run this season. 

Will Hazlewood Join RCB Before The Playoffs?

Initially, there were doubts over Hazlewood’s return, especially as CA was keen on managing his workload ahead of the upcoming WTC final. However, RCB confirmed that the pacer was expected to return for the playoffs starting May 29. Recent developments further support that timeline, with Hazlewood currently staying in Australia this week to complete his rehabilitation before potentially flying back to India.

He is unlikely to feature in RCB’s upcoming match against SRH on May 23 in Bengaluru. But his steady recovery and net sessions suggest he could be fit and available to lead RCB’s pace attack during the knockout stages. 

Why Hazlewood’s Return Matters For RCB? 

Josh Hazlewood's ability to deliver in crunch situations makes him a vital asset for RCB. His accuracy, experience, and calm under pressure have been evident throughout the season. With RCB already securing a spot in the IPL 2025 playoffs his return could offer the edge they need to chase their maiden IPL title. The team is currently placed second on the points table with 17 points from 12 games. 

RCB has also reportedly been in regular contact with Hazlewood regarding his status, and all indications suggest positive discussions are underway about his return.
