South Africa's 2024 T20 World Cup dreams were dashed in the final as they fell just seven runs short to India in a nail-biter at the Kensington Oval. 

Well-set Proteas batter David Miller, who took centre-stage in the last over with 16 more runs to get, failed to take his side home as he was caught in the deep to Suryakumar Yadav.

Following South Africa's narrow defeat, a heartbroken Miller was spotted agonising alongside his teammates as he was fathoming yet another knockout defeat for the Proteas in an ICC event.

Professional polo player Camilla Harris consoled her husband, David Miller, after South Africa incurred a heartbreaking seven-run defeat to India in the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

With Miller breaking down in tears, the cricketer hugged his wife and the distressing moment was captured on camera.

Chasing 177 to lift the 2024 T20 World Cup, first-time finalists South Africa lost two quick wickets in the opening powerplay before Quinton de Kock steadied their run-chase with Tristan Stubbs. 

Following the dismissals of both batters, Heinrich Klaasen bludgeoned a match-threatening 52 from 27 balls and shared a 45-run partnership with David Miller to tilt the fortunes back in South Africa's favour.

However, Klaasen's mistiming off Hardik Pandya dried up the runs for South Africa at the death, leaving too much to do for hard-hitting Miller in the final over. 

The 35-year-old was caught in the deep courtesy of a sensational boundary catch from Suryakumar Yadav off Hardik Pandya as Team India made its way back into the contest.
