Ireland Batter Fined For Code of Conduct Breach During One-Off Test Against Zimbabwe

Ireland batter Harry Tector has been fined by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for a breach of the Code of Conduct during the recently concluded Test match against Zimbabwe. 

He was fined 15% of his match fee and incurred one demerit point as he showcased dissent at an umpire’s decision during Ireland’s second innings.

The incident occurred in the sixth over when the batter was caught behind. Harry Tector prompted a visible display of displeasure and delay in leaving the field.

The player accepted the penalty, as he avoided a formal hearing. Jeff Crowe of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees imposed the sanction, which falls under Level 1 breaches that carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50 percent of a player’s match fee.

Despite the off-field incident, Ireland secured a thrilling victory over Zimbabwe. 

Talking about the match, Ireland won the toss and opted to bowl first and bundled out the opposition for just 210 runs and took a 40-run lead in the first innings. In the second innings, the bowlers bowled well as they bundled out Zimbabwe for 197 runs. 

With the bat, Ireland's batters displayed top-notch as they crunched the important moments and won the game by the margin of 4 wickets.
