In an interesting revelation by TOI, Rajasthan Royals (RR) academy is apparently going lengths to transform young talent with great potential into future superstars. From preparing a variety of wickets to helping national players for overseas tours, RR has become a one stop destination for all sorts of experiences.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) have been in safe hands of Manoj Badale and The Royals Sports Group as the ownership is taking its development program to the next level. From scouting young talent across the country to grooming them in their robust academy, RR is slowly turning into a factory of nurturing superstars.

Rajasthan Royals upgrades training facilities

In a recent report by Gaurav Gupta of TOI, RR Academy has explored multiple routes to ensure the young players are getting groomed to adapt to all kinds of conditions. Once the IPL season is over, the academy pitches are curated with 12 mm of grass to help players prepare for the red ball domestic season.

The grass wicket is also used by overseas tour-bound national players. Recently, RR wicket-keeper Dhruv Jurel scored twin fifties in an unofficial Test against Australia A, which was his very first outing on Australian soil. Not only that, as the new IPL season inches closer, the grass is trimmed and reduced to 4-6 mm.

Besides this, RR academy also conducted special sessions for Sanju Samson in Dubai to help him prepare for the South Africa series. Samson benefitted from the Dubai sessions as he slammed a century in the first T20I held in Durban.

In Kumar Sangakkara’s mentorship, RR’s vision touched new highs, and with Rahul Dravid taking over next year, the franchise is anticipated to set a new precedent in terms of player development facilities.

RR exhausts retention limit for IPL 2025

Rajasthan Royals (RR) prioritised young talent over experienced overseas players during the retention deadline. For IPL 2025, the Royals retained captain Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, and uncapped bowler Sandeep Sharma. Big names such as Jos Buttler, Ravi Ashwin, and Yuzvendra Chahal were ignored as RR turned to youth to build a more robust and passionate foundation.
