Rahul Dravid, the former Indian cricketer and T20 World Cup-winning coach recently joined Rajasthan Royals as head coach. He was previously associated with the franchise first as a player and then as a mentor and coach, and his reunion with the inaugural IPL winners speaks a lot about the bond he shares with the Jaipur-based franchise.

There were rumours of Dravid joining IPL teams as a coach or mentor right after he left the Indian coaching job. The demand was high after his successful stint with the Indian team and according to a report from Cricbuzz, there were even franchises who were willing to hand blank Cheques to Dravid for joining him. The former Indian cricketer though chose to go with Sanju Samson and co. and respect his bond with Rajasthan Royals over money.

Rahul Dravid's Coaching Tenure Comes A Full Circle

It was Rajasthan Royals who bought Rahul Dravid in the 2011 IPL mega auction when RCB decided to part ways with the legendary batter. It was a new beginning for Rahul Dravid in the shortest format of the game at the fag end of his career and he went onto score 1276 runs for the franchise in the 46 matches he played. He also led them in 34 of those matches and after he decided to hang his boots as a cricketer, he donned the role of a mentor and coach for the franchise in the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

It was Dravid's first tenure as coach for any team, and it started off a glorious second innings as coach for the former cricketer where he played a crucial role in developing young Indian cricketers at the U19 and A-level.

He is now a world cup-winning coach and it seems that the man has decided to use all his experience to guide Rajasthan Royals to greater heights in IPL 2025, the team that provided him the first opportunity in a coaching role.
