In a significant development, former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid has been appointed as Rajasthan Royals' head coach ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League season. Rajasthan Royals surfaced the news through a social media post of Dravid receiving his jersey from the Royals Sports Group CEO Jake Lush McCrum. 

Dravid recently became a hot coaching prospect after leading India to a famous T20 World Cup triumph in the Caribbean. Under his guidance, the Men in Blue clinched a thrilling victory over South Africa in the final to end their eleven-year-long ICC trophy drought. 

He was also instrumental in India's memorable 2023 World Cup campaign, where they won ten consecutive matches before losing to Australia in a one-sided final at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Nevertheless, India finally broke the knockout jinx with the T20 World Cup title, elevating Dravid's stature as an outstanding mentor. 

Rahul Dravid unites with Sanju Samson in RR camp for IPL 2025

Hailed for his grit and stoic batting technique, Rahul Dravid represented Rajasthan Royals after a brief stint with his home IPL franchise, Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He enjoyed stellar success for the inaugural IPL champions, helping them secure several memorable wins through his scintillating performances. 

Overall, he amassed 1276 runs in 45 IPL innings for the Royals at an average of 29.67. His association with a young Sanju Samson used to be adored by fans across the globe, as they were RR's mainstay at the top order. 

Now, as Dravid joins skipper Samson as the head coach, it remains to be seen if the charismatic pair brings the coveted trophy back to the Royals camp.
