Unreal scenes occurred in Eliminator of the Caribbean Premier League match between Trinbago Knight Riders and Barbados Royals, as the game was halted for nearly two hours following a floodlight tower failure.

The incident occurred in the last over of the first innings when Nicholas Pooran was stranded on an unbeaten 91 (60) as TKR posted 168/3 on the board. The game was halted for two hours, and the match was reduced to five overs as Barbados Royals were given a target of 61 runs.

The move was criticised online as the cut-off time was 10:52 pm local time, but the game started at 11:01 PM, nine minutes past the cut-off time. Had the match been called off, TKR would have advanced to Qualifier 2. Meanwhile, David Miller went into carnage mode and smashed 50 off just 17 balls, which featured three fours and five sixes.

After the Barbados Royals' victory, the internet was flooded with anger for CPL organisers, and the latest to join the bandwagon is TKR star all-rounder Andre Russell.

Russell was furious with the CPL organisers and took to Instagram to pen an emotional note where he used abusive language and remarked that it was a robbery following TKR's exit after floodlight failure.

"Am not the person to come on the internet and voice my opinion but this year CPLIfeel robbed this light situation was fuckry lights came on just before the cut off time is also fuckry and then 60 off 30 balls is also a bigger fuckry and yes Andre Russell said it right is right fuckry a fuckry but Iguess it's just pure fuckry a e gwaan," posted Russell on Instagram.
