Barbados Royals knocked out Trinbago Knight Riders from the CPL 2024 playoffs after defeating them in the Eliminator at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. The Royals will now face either the Guyana Amazon Warriors or the St Lucia Kings in the second qualifier for a spot in the finals.

Here’s the timeline of how TKR vs BR panned out in Guyana:

TKR vs BR Highlights: Theekshana, Naveen Jolt TKR Early In Knockout Game

The Trinbago Knight Riders lost pinch-hitting opener Sunil Narine for just two in the first over of the match. The seasoned all-rounder was deceived by a turning Maheesh Theekshana delivery. Narine’s opening partner Jason Roy (25 off 17) also failed to capitalize over his confident start as he was caught out by David Miller off Naveen-ul-Haq in the final powerplay over.

Following the early dismissals of both openers, number three Nicholas Pooran forged steady partnerships with captain Kieron Pollard and hard-hitting radical Andre Russell for the subsequent two wickets.

TKR vs BR Highlights: Nicholas Pooran Clubs 91* As TKR Lists 168-3

Nicholas Pooran bludgeoned six boundaries and five sixes to smear 91 unbeaten runs from just 60 balls. At 54-2, the dashing wicketkeeper-batter shared 47 swift runs with captain Kieron Pollard before the latter was cleaned up by Ramon Simmonds for a sluggish 17 at 101-3.

Pooran added another 67 runs alongside Andre Russell (20* off 18) to blaze the TKR to 168-3 before bad floodlights stopped play in 19.1 overs.

TKR vs BR Highlights: David Miller Smacks 17-Ball 50* In Shortened Chase

After a long delay, the Barbados Royals franchise was set a revised target of 60 runs in five overs for a spot in the second qualifier. Arriving to the crease for the chase, the Royals lost in-form opener Quinton de Kock for just a two-ball boundary as the South African stumper was castled by a gripping Sunil Narine delivery.

Quinton’s exit coincided with the early arrival of fellow Proteas batting star David Miller, who blasted a 17-ball unbeaten half-century during his unbroken 59-run partnership with captain Rovman Powell (9* off 8).

Miller’s belligerence helped Barbados Royals mow down their 60-run target with nine wickets and four balls to spare, as they qualified for the impending second CPL 2024 qualifier.
