A heartbreaking story has emerged from Gujarat, leaving the cricket community in shock. Jay Jani, a devoted fan of MS Dhoni who had previously gained fame for breaking security to meet his hero in the course of IPL 2024, has sadly died. 

Cricket has always been a religion in India, with cricketers treated no less than gods. Fans often cross lines just to catch a glimpse of their idols, but life often takes drastic turns when one least expects it.

MS Dhoni Fan Dies In Car Accident

According to Gujarat News, 27-year-old Jay Jani from Rabarika village in Bhavnagar lost his life in a tractor accident. It has been reported that Jay was on his way to his farm when his tractor lost balance and overturned, causing fatal injuries.

Jay was no ordinary cricket enthusiast; he was a die-hard supporter of MS Dhoni. During an IPL 2024 match at the Narendra Modi Stadium, he had famously sprinted past security, running onto the ground, and touching the feet of Dhoni.

That heartfelt moment, which was taped on camera, went viral in social media, and Jay won the respect of Dhoni supporters all over the nation. He was also active online, running an Instagram account with nearly 18,000 followers and a YouTube channel named Dhoni Ashiq Official, which had over 13,000 subscribers. 

His content was a mix of Dhoni tributes, match reactions, and cricket fan moments, which resonated with fellow supporters. But after this accident, condolences for the family have been pouring in online.

IPL 2025 Turned Into A Disaster For MS Dhoni And CSK

That being said, the IPL 2025 season ended up being the worst campaign in CSK’s tournament history. With 10 losses in 14 games, Chennai dropped to the bottom of the points table despite having MS Dhoni as captain. The void of Ruturaj Gaikwad, ruled out with an elbow injury, was felt deeply by the batting unit. Moreover, for 2026, suspense remains over Dhoni’s participation, as he turned 44 this year.
