Finishing at the bottom of the IPL points table is something no team wants. But in every season, one franchise ends up in the last spot, and this year, it is Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who joined this unwanted list for the first time ever.

CSK, five-time IPL champions, are one of the most successful franchises in the tournament. With MS Dhoni at the helm, the side prospered and penned an unimaginable period of supremacy.

However, in the last two years, Chennai have lost the plot. After finishing out of the playoffs in 2024, the Super Kings hit rock bottom despite Dhoni returning as captain in 2025.

CSK Finish At The Bottom Of IPL Points Table In 2025

In the 2025 IPL season, Chennai Super Kings will finish at the bottom of the points table despite winning their last league game against Gujarat Titans. Everything went wrong for CSK this year.

From an underwhelming mega auction to losing captain Ruturaj Gaikwad to an elbow injury, the Super Kings struggled to find the right combination for most parts of the season.

As a result, with 3 wins and 8 points in 14 games, CSK will finish in the 10th position in the points table. This is the first time in IPL history that Chennai has dropped to the last spot.

With the IPL 2025 season winding up, the Super Kings’ management has a lot to contemplate. Gaikwad missed the season, but MS Dhoni couldn’t make a difference as a leader as well as a finisher. He is turning 43 this year, and the team must start asking tough questions soon.

Youngsters Dewald Brevis, Ayush Mhatre, and Khaleel Ahmed shined through despite a disappointing season. But seniors like Shivam Dube, Deepak Hooda, Ravi Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja haven’t stepped up.

Hence, for 2026, CSK will have to come up with a better plan and a much finer squad composition.
