Match 28 of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 between England and Oman lasted just 99 balls, where Jos Buttler's XI routed Aqib Ilyas and Co. by a convincing 8-wicket margin. 

This win ensured that England's chances of a next-round qualification remained alive more so after their net run rate improved from -1.80 to +3.08, placing them third in Group B, where Australia have already qualified for Super 8s. 

Route their mammoth win, England also created a Men's T20 World Cup record, notching up the largest margin of victory in an encounter (by balls remaining) - 101 balls.

England bettered Sri Lanka's win over the Netherlands from the 2014 edition, where the Lankan Lions won with 90 balls to spare at Chattogram. Former T20 World Champions Australia occupy the third and fourth spots, while inaugural winners India round off an impressive Top 5 with fifth position.

About the match at Antigua this evening, England asked Oman to bat first, where the likes of Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, and Adil Rashid rattled their opponents, clinching all 10 wickets between themselves, with the leg-spinner picking up a four-fer, as the opposition managed just 47 runs (fourth lowest in T20 World Cups).

In reply, Phil Salt gave the Three Lions a rocketing start, post which Oman picked up wickets of the former and Will Jacks, creating false excitement. Skipper Buttler smoked 22 runs off Bilal Khan's second over, which saw England earn a comfortable victory with 101 balls to spare, with only 3.1 overs being delievered. 

England's final Group B contest will be against Namibia on June 15 with Super 8 qualification on the line.
