Cricket is a sport that often resembles the past and present, while inspiring the future. The ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 encounter between Pakistan and the United States of America (USA) witnessed such an instance.

The fans were reminded of the brilliance from the ICC World Cup 2007 from Bermuda's Dwayne Leverock when Steven Taylor nabbed Mohammed Rizwan.

Taylor, standing in the slip cordon, took a one-handed diving catch to send Rizwan back into the hut, which resembled Leverock's splendid effort against India in the 2007 WC edition.

Leverock caught Robin Uthappa off Malachi Jones' delivery, which induced an edge of the latter's bat in the second over.

International Cricket Council (ICC) took to the social media platform Instagram and shared respective catches that rekindled memories of the past.

Leverock's catch was even more splendid given the player's body size, which was on the heavier side, as the ball in comparison to Taylor's was at a height, while the latter's catch was inches off the ground.

As for the match, USA restricted Pakistan under 159, where Nosthush Kenjige and Saurabh Netravalkar nabbed five wickets between them.

All-rounder Shadab Khan's 25-ball 40 lifted Pakistan from a deep slump, with former skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi contributing with a quick-fire 23.
