Tensions between neighbours India and Pakistan have been on the tenterhooks since 2008, forcing the cancelation of cricketing bilateral ties and what not.

However, both countries are obligated to feature against each other in the International Cricket Council (ICC) affiliated tournament, the most recent being in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.

In the latest development, a Shiv Sena (UBT) leader named Anand Dubey has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to cancel the India-Pakistan cricket because of the terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.

Incase India and Pakistan qualify for the semi-finals or final stage, both nations will face each other again after their last summit clash on June 9.

As reported by PTI, the letter written by Dubey was also sent to Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, and the apex body Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Cancel Cricket - Anand Dubey

"India should cancel the cricket match with Pakistan in view of ongoing violence,"

For the uninformed, Shiv Sena have opposed India-Pakistan cricket since the 1990s, when several party members dug the pitch at Wankhede Stadium during their 1999 series. The recent attacks in J&K witnessed as many as 10 people killed and 39 people injured, including CRPF, and security personnel.

Previously, India and Pakistan met one another in New York, where in a nail-biting encounter, Rohit Sharma's XI prevailed over Babar Azam's men.
