Ahead of the start of play on day 2 of the first Test match between England and West Indies at Lord's, the England & Wales Cricket Board felicitated skipper Ben Stokes with a special 'Silver Cap' for completing 100 Test matches.

"100 Tests After reaching three figures in Rajkot, @BenStokes38 is presented with a silver cap to mark an incredible milestone, Congratulations, Stokesy."

ECB chairperson Richard Thompson presented the special cap to the England skipper.

Notably, Stokes played his 100th Test during the tour against India earlier this year. However, the board wanted to felicitate their skipper at home, which is why honoured Stokes on day 2.

The board could have presented the special cap to Stokes on day 1, but the opening day of Lord's Test was all about James Anderson, who is playing his final game for the Three Lions.

Talking about Stokes, he has played 102 Test matches in which he has 6136 runs and 198 wickets. The all-rounder returned to bowling in red-ball cricket in the ongoing match only and was even rewarded with a wicket courtesy of a breathtaking catch from Harry Brooks as slips.

Notably, Stokes refrained from bowling for a long time because of his long-standing knee injury.

Talking about the ongoing match, England are in total control of the game as they tumbled West Indies for just 121 runs. In reply, after end of play on day 1, England were 189/3.
