The Duleep Trophy is one of India's most prestigious domestic cricket tournaments, and the 2024 edition promises to be an exciting competition as the format is being revised by the BCCI with the inclusion of several senior cricketers likely on the cards.

The Duleep Trophy traditionally features a zonal format, with teams representing different regions of India. However, in recent years, the format has seen changes, and this year, BCCI is taking an unconventional route to host a four-team round-robin format.

The tournament will kick off on September 5 and last until September 22, weeks leading up to the highly anticipated Border Gavaskar Trophy. Hence, since a big overseas tour is on the horizon, senior Test cricketers, including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah are likely to feature in the tournament.

Duleep Trophy 2024 Format

Notably, The Duleep Trophy 2024 season will be played in a four team format. The BCCI have decided to scrap the zonal format to introduce four teams, namely India A, India B, India C and India D. All teams will be selected by senior selector Ajit Agarkar.

The season will be played in a round robin format, thus eliminating the knockout stages. All four teams will clash in three rounds and the one to top the standings by September 22 will be declared winners.

Round 1

  • September 5-8, 2024: India A vs India B – Venue: M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
  • September 5-8, 2024: India C vs India D – Venue: ACA ADCA Ground, Anantapur

Round 2

  • September 12-15, 2024: India A vs India D – Venue: Rural Development Trust Stadium, Anantapur
  • September 12-15, 2024: India B vs India C – Venue: ACA ADCA Ground, Anantapur

Round 3

  • September 19-22, 2024: India A vs India C – Venue: Rural Development Trust Stadium, Anantapur
  • September 19-22, 2024: India B vs India D – Venue: ACA ADCA Ground, Anantapur
