W.G. Grace was born into a cricket-loving family and, hence, started playing the game at a very young age. His cricket career spanned over four decades, from the 1860s to the early 1900s, during which he played for England, Gloucestershire, and various other teams. 

Grace was an all-rounder, but it was his batting that truly revolutionised the game. Grace's batting technique and style were ahead of his time. He introduced a level of athleticism, technique, and skill that was previously unseen in the game. 

Grace scored over 54,000 runs and took more than 2,800 wickets in his first-class career, achievements that reflect his greatness. Needless to say, W.G. Grace's contribution to cricket earned him the title "Father of Cricket," and his legacy continues to inspire cricketers and fans alike.
