The next big assignment for the Indian team in the ODI format is the Champions trophy 2025. In their latest outing against Sri Lanka in their home turf, India suffered a humiliating 2-0 loss. One of the prime concerns in the series was the failure of the middle-order to capitalise on the starts that the top order provided.

Ahead of the marquee tournament, India have three more ODIs where they can look to short out their compositions and equations. One of the prime motives of the management will be to short out the middle-order fiasco. Two of the prime contenders of the Indian middle-order will be next seen playing in the Duleep Trophy 2024.

KL Rahul, India's bet for Champions Trophy 2025

Rishabh Pant's return to the Indian scheme of things

The Indian wicket-keeper batter has gradually made his return to regular action. Rishabh Pant looked decent in the IPL and followed it up with good shows in the T20 World Cup 2024. However, playing in the longer format might be a completely different story for him. Although, he played one ODI during the Sri Lanka tour, he did not give a testament of him being able to playing impactful and longer knocks.
