India star wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant is set to play red-ball cricket following a tumultuous period.

The 26-year-old, absent from test cricket since a tragic car accident in December 2022, has bee in the plans of selectors Gautam Gambhir and Ajit Agarkar for the upcoming Bangladesh Tests.

Pant's last Test outing was against Bangladesh in Mirpur, where he impressed with a notable 102-run innings.

However, a week later, a fateful collision near Roorkee left him sidelined for much of 2023, focusing on rehabilitation. His return to cricket began tentatively at the NCA, followed by a competitive comeback with the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024.

As anticipation builds for his return to the longer format, Pant is expected to feature in the Duleep Trophy to acclimatize to Test cricket conditions.

Scheduled between 5th to 24th September, this domestic tournament will serve as a crucial platform for Pant and other contenders identified by the Agarkar-led committee.

India will commence their campaign against Bangladesh with a two-match Test series starting on 19th September, followed by a series of T20Is. Pant's potential inclusion marks a significant comeback story, reflecting his resilience and determination to reclaim his place in the national side.
