Chennai Super Kings team franchise recently commenced their pre-season camp ahead of the season-opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The team have begun the preparations for the 17th season of the Indian Premier League in Chennai with Deepak Chahar one of the prominent names in the camp.

Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore will clash in the first match of the IPL 2024 at the M. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on 22 March. The fan favourite Chennai Super Kings will be once again led by the most successful captain in the tournament, MS Dhoni.

While a few domestic cricketers of the Yellow Army have begun the preparations for IPL 2024, the arrival of the CSK skipper is awaited. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is currently attending the pre-wedding festivities of Mukesh Ambani’s son Anant Ambani in Jamnagar, Gujarat. Dhoni is expected to join Chennai Super Kings pre-season camp soon.

CSK team touches down in Chennai as IPL 2024 anticipation builds

An official of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) recently informed PTI about the arrival of the first batch of domestic Indian players in Chennai on Friday. The official also discussed the arrival of the next batch of Chennai Super Kings team members in the upcoming days ahead of the team’s first match against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The official said,

"The first batch of local (Indian) players arrived on Friday and more are expected to arrive in the coming days.”

As reported by the TNCA official, the following players have reached Chennai for the pre-season camp for IPL 2024. The players include Simarjeet Singh (pacer), Mukesh Choudhary (pacer), Prashant Solanki (spinner), Rajvardhan Hangargekar (all-rounder), Ajay Mandal (all-rounder) and Deepak Chahar (seamer).

Deepak Chahar recently declared himself fully fit after a recent training session at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Chahar has been out of action since December 2023 after he suffered an injury during the T20I series against Australia.

Deepak Chahar’s arrival in Chennai nearly 20 days before the commencement of IPL 2024 is a clear indication that the seamer is eyeing a spot in the team for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 which will be conducted in the USA and Caribbean.

The defending champions, the Chennai Super Kings, will be looking to start off with a bang against Faf du Plessis at their home turf.
