A few days ago, Chahar also talked about his father’s illness which kept him busy for 1.5 months, leading him to miss India’s tour of South Africa. Chahar discussed that a player cannot instantly come back on the field after an injury and has to undergo rehab sessions to get back at their strength.

While taking his fitness and injury update in the video, Aakash Chopra questioned Deepak Chahar about the ongoing chatter about his absence from cricket.

Talking about his absence from international cricket, Deepak Chahar said, "When you don’t play cricket for 1.5 months, it gets very difficult to come back on the field immediately after your recovery. I was away in the hospital which made me go under recovery and rehab sessions. When you play international cricket for your country you have to be at your best, for which rehab sessions are mandatory as you take time to come back being fit.”

“I started to play once my father was back, but there was no ongoing white ball series for India wherein I could participate. However, we have the upcoming season of the IPL, so I am training for that. Usually we don’t get so much time to prepare, we have rehab when you are injured but now that I am fully fit I will try to improve my performance.”

Deepak Chahar will once again represent the defending champions Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming 17th season of the IPL.
