South African batter David Miller was officially reprimanded for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during a Super Eights Group 2 match in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 against England. The match took place on Friday at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St Lucia.

David Miller violated Article 2.8 of the ICC Code, which pertains to "showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during an international match." As a result, one demerit point was added to Miller's disciplinary record.

The charge was leveled by on-field umpires Chris Brown and Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid, third umpire Joel Wilson, and fourth umpire Chris Gaffaney.

The incident occurred in the penultimate over of South Africa's innings. Miller faced a full toss from Sam Curran, expecting it to be called a 'no ball' for height. When the umpire did not call a no-ball, Miller expressed his displeasure by signalling for a review, even though such a decision could not be reviewed.

This was Miller's first offence within a 24-month period. He acknowledged his mistake and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Jeff Crowe, making a formal hearing unnecessary.

Meanwhile, South Africa won the match by seven runs, putting them just one win away from the semi-finals. The Proteas currently top Group 2 with two wins in as many games. Their final Super Eights fixture will be against hosts West Indies on Sunday, June 23.
