In the thrilling T20 World Cup 2024 match between Australia and Afghanistan at Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown, St Vincent, Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa turned the game around with two crucial wickets in the same over.

Australia, having opted to bowl first, found themselves on the back foot as Afghanistan's opening pair built a formidable 118-run partnership.

Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh, puzzled and seeking breakthroughs, handed the ball to experienced leg-spinner Adam Zampa during the 17th over. Zampa did not disappoint.

On the third ball of his over, he dismissed Azmatullah Omarzai with a slider that pitched on good length and went on with the arm.

Omarzai swung blindly, missing the ball entirely, resulting in his stumps being shattered. This wicket brought much-needed relief to the Australian side.

Zampa's over continued to be eventful. On the final ball, he bowled a clever long hop that deceived Ibrahim Zadran. The ball bounced devilishly off the deck, causing Zadran to mistime his pull shot.

The ball hit the splice of the bat and looped towards short third man, where Mitchell Marsh took a simple catch.

Zampa celebrated animatedly as he had now dismissed the well-set Zadran, who scored 51 off 48 balls.

These two wickets by Zampa broke Afghanistan's momentum and shifted the match in Australia's favour.

The Afghan innings, which had started strong, faltered after these dismissals, losing three more wickets quickly. They concluded their innings at 148/6 in 20 overs.

Zampa's brilliant spell of 2/28 played a pivotal role in bringing Australia back into the game, showcasing his importance in the team and underlining his reputation as a key wicket-taker in crucial moments.
