In the high-octane IPL 2025 clash between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Narendra Modi Stadium, a post from MS Dhoni’s superfan, Saravanan Hari, went viral online. The die-hard supporter expressed his frustration after being allegedly denied entry into the stadium with a CSK flag.

CSK is one of the most decorated franchises in IPL history, find themselves on the verge of scripting an unwanted chapter in their storied legacy. With just three wins from 13 matches, the MS Dhoni-led side sits at the bottom of the points table. A defeat in today's clash against the table-toppers would confirm CSK’s worst-ever performance in a single IPL season.

Chennai Flags Stopped Outside Narendra Modi Stadium

The match, saw MS Dhoni and Shubman Gill meet at the toss, was already a spectacle with thousands of fans filling the stands. Despite GT being the home team, the stadium was drenched in yellow. However, many of those fans faced disappointment at the entry gates.

“CSK flag not allowed inside ground. Narendra Modi Stadium,” Saravanan Hari posted on social media,

The viral post led to widespread discussion, with many questioning why flags were restricted, especially in a league known for its vibrant fan culture.

Why Flags Are Not Allowed?

According to IPL regulations, flags attached to sticks have been banned inside stadiums as a safety precaution, given that sticks can be potentially harmful in large crowds. This rule has been in place for multiple seasons and applies to all venues. However, flags without sticks essentially just cloth banners are not restricted.

A similar situation had occurred earlier in the season when KKR fans reported being denied flag access at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, though that incident involved flags with sticks.
