Chennai Super Kings (CSK) find themselves at the brink of attaining a new low ahead of their final league match of the IPL 2025 season against table-toppers Gujarat Titans. With just three wins at an expense of 10 defeats from 13 matches, the MS Dhoni-led group is currently placed at the bottom of the 10-team IPL 2025 points table.
Another defeat to Titans at this stage of the tournament will ensure a worst-ever seasonal performance for the five-time winners in history.

Under the leadership of MS Dhoni, the CSK franchise needs to defeat table-toppers Gujarat Titans in match 67 of the IPL 2025 season at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday, May 25. A defeat to Shubman Gill’s rampaging group at this stage will ensure that CSK will finish the season at the bottom of the 10-team points table.
Moreover, a defeat will also ensure that CSK will mark their worst-ever performance in a single season. Their current worst season remains IPL 2022, where under the combined leadership of Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni, CSK registered just four wins from 14 matches with 10 defeats to finish ninth on the points table, finding themselves only ahead of Mumbai Indians at the time.

CSK, under Ruturaj Gaikwad, won their opening match of the IPL 2025 season by defeating Mumbai Indians in Chennai. However, defeats in each of their subsequent five games, coupled with the injury exit of Gaikwad and the re-appointment of captain MS Dhoni, completely derailed their early momentum and plunged the team into a downward spiral they have failed to recover from.
