Rashid Khan, once known as the king of T20 cricket, has endured a torrid Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, culminating in a record he would rather not own. In the 67th group-stage match between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the Afghan leg-spinner conceded his 31st six of the season equaling the record of Mohammed Siraj for most sixes conceded in a single edition of the IPL.

Rashid now joins that unwanted list, alongside names like Wanindu Hasaranga (30 in 2022), Yuzvendra Chahal (30 in 2024), and Dwayne Bravo (29 in 2018).

Most sixes Conceded In A Single Edition Of IPL:

  • 31 - Mohammed Siraj (2022)
  • 31 - Rashid Khan (2025)*
  • 30 - Wanindu Hasaranga (2022)
  • 30 - Yuzvendra Chahal (2024)
  • 29 - Dwayne Bravo (2018)

The concerning dip in form for Rashid Khan is one of the biggest talking points of the season. Across 14 matches in IPL 2025, he has managed to pick up only 9 wickets at an average of 53.66.  What’s more alarming is his economy rate of 9.47, underlining how comfortably batters have handled his once-deceptive variations.

Why Is Rashid Khan Showing Horrible Form In IPL 2025?

It is important to note that Rashid’s non-stop cricket calendar is one of the reason for his poor form. The 26-year-old has been a fixture in multiple T20 leagues around the globe. He is often seen participating in BBL, The Hundred, the PSL, and various franchise tournaments in the UAE and South Africa. The constant travel and over usage of the ace spinner may be catching up with the Afghan star, resulting in a visible downfall in his bowling.

With the playoffs around the corner, Rashid’s form poses a significant threat to GT’s campaign. The Titans, currently leading the table, will be banking on their batting depth and inform players like Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill.
