Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have found a gem in their hands and his name is Ayush Mhatre. The CSK opening batter has been a revelation ever since coming in as a replacement player for injured Ruturaj Gaikwad and has already become the batting mainstay in such a short span of time.

Mhatre slams 28 runs in 1 over

On Sunday against Gujarat Titans, he showed no mercy towards Arshad Khan and smacked him for 28 runs in one over. In the second over, Mhatre started with a couple of runs as the carnage began. He then struck two colossal sixes, and it was followed by a four and again a monstrous six as Arshad was taken to the cleaners and the bowler was made to look helpless.


This was the fifth most runs scored by a CSK batter in an over in IPL history.

Ravindra Jadeja, occupies the top spot with 36 runs scored against RCB's Harshal Patel in the 2021 season, when he smacked 36 runs. Suresh Raina and Dewald Brevis sits at the second and third position. Interestingly, Albie Morkel is at 4th spot as he hammered Virat Kohli for 28 runs.

Mhatre has now entered the list as he tonked Arshad Khan and the batter showed no mercy.

Mhatre's extraordinary IPL 2025 campaign

He came in as a replacement player and quickly became an integral part of the team. Prior to the GT match he had scored 206 runs with the highest score of 94. Also, he has been striking at 187.27 as CSK have found a quality opener for the next decade.
