Due to the ongoing conflicts between India and Pakistan, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was suspended last week. However, just a few days back, the IPL announced a revised schedule with the league set to resume on Saturday, May 17. As a result of this, the gameplan of several teams got disrupted.
Hazlewood to join RCB?
The IPL final was set to take place on Mah 25, but now, as per the new schedule, it will take place on June 3. One of the players, who was likely to miss the remainder of the IPL season was RCB pacer, Josh Hazlewood. The pacer was set to play in the WTC finals and was also suffering from shoulder injury.
In an earlier report by ESPNCricinfo, Hazlewood was unlikely to return for the remainder of the season. However, as per a fresh report by Hindustan Times, the Aussie star will be back in the quest to help RCB win the title.
With the league being suspended, Hazlewood, just like other overseas stars flew back home, and with key WTC finale coming up, it was expected that he won't return. However, as per HT, the veteran pacer will be back on time for the game against KKR.
"Yes, Josh will travel to India. We are in discussion with the authorities about the exact date of his arrival," a source close to Hazlewood told Hindustan Times
Hazlewood's importance for RCB's title chances
He was RCB's undisputed best player before the league was suspended and he was one of the major reasons why RCB sit at the second place in points table.
In 10 matches, Hazlewood took 18 wickets, at an economy of 8.44. However, he missed the last match against CSK due to a shoulder injury, but now it seems the pacer will be fit and raring to go for remainder of the season.
