Rajasthan Royals' (RR) run in IPL 2024 came to an end when Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated them by 36 runs in the second qualifier.

Additionally, RR's southpaw batter, Shimron Hetmyer, was fined for breaching the code of conduct by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Hetmyer fined by IPL

After getting out to Abhishek Sharma's part-time spin, Shimron Hetmyer hit the stumps with his bat in frustration. He was found guilty of a Level 1 offense according to the IPL Code of Conduct. Hetmyer was fined 10% of his match fees after admitting to the offense.

Shimron Hetmyer of the Rajasthan Royals has been fined 10 per cent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the Qualifier 2 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on May 24," BCCI said in the statement released.

Former Indian pacer Javagal Srinath issued the fine. While the BCCI didn't specify the exact reason, Hetmyer's reaction after getting out was likely the cause.

Hetmyer was dismissed in a crucial situation, and his continued presence at the crease could have turned the game in RR's favor.

RR won the toss and opted to bowl first, hoping to capitalize on the dew factor. SRH posted a total of 175-9 in 20 overs, with crucial contributions from Rahul Tripathi (37 off 15 balls) and Heinrich Klaasen (50 off 34 balls).

In response, RR struggled against SRH's spin attack, as the lack of dew worked in SRH's favor. Despite a valiant effort from Jurel, who scored 56 off 35 balls, RR could only manage 139/7 in 20 overs.
