Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have made it to another Indian Premier League (IPL) final after defeating the Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 36 runs on Friday evening at the Chepauk. This is the first time that SRH has made it to the final since 2018.

The Sunrisers were put in to bat by the Royals in a big game. Starting with an exquisite cameo by Rahul Tripathi 37(15) that Heinrich Klaasen 50(34) and Travis Head 34(28) carried, SRH were able to put 175 on the board which was about par on the wicket.

With the ball, both left-arm orthodox bowlers, Abhishek Sharma and Shahbaz Ahmed bowled tight spells that resulted in an SRH win. Sharma bowled his 4 overs for 2/24 while Shahbaz scalped 3/23.

Cummins during the post-match interview, reflected on the season and revealed that the final was their goal after finishing 10th in the last season.

"There's been a great vibe around the team, I think you could see it with the way we played. Final was the goal and we've made it."

Regarding the way they batted the whole season and how batters were given the freedom to bat the way that suited them,

"We knew our strength was our batting so happy with the way it went. I wouldn't underestimate the experience on our side, it's a dream to have guys like Nattu, Unadkat and Bhuvi. They go about their work and make my job easy," said Cummins.

On having Shahabaz as the impact sub who had a match-winning contribution in the game and giving a full quota of four overs to Abhishek,

"It was Dan Vettori's call to have as many left arm orthodox as possible [laughs]. That was a surprise [to bowl Sharma four overs]. Tried to stick one out of him with a couple of right handers batting and felt like the ball gripped a little bit and he bowled beautifully."

The Aussie also revealed the feeling with the score at the half time and how has he adapted with the conditions in India,

The finals are always funny. You never know. With 170 on the board, after a couple of wickets, things really turn.

"I won't ever pretend to work out how it [conditions] works. The final for the whole franchise, there are 60-70 of us who are involved, it is really gratifying. Hopefully, we've got one more," Pat Cummins concluded.

The final of IPL 2024 will be on 26th of May at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium with KKR eyeing their third title and Sunrisers Hyderabad their second.
