BCCI To Name Asia Cup 2025 Squad On Tuesday: Report
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will reportedly announce India’s squad for the upcoming 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup through a press conference in Mumbai on August 19. Earlier reports indicated that the adverse weather conditions in Mumbai might hinder BCCI’s plans, prompting the board to announce only the India Women squad for the 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup. The Asia Cup 2025 is set to be hosted by the UAE between September 9 and September 28 next month.
South Africa Add Maphaka For Australia ODIs
South Africa has added young fast bowler Kwena Maphaka into the team for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia. Maphaka secured a place in South Africa’s 17-player group after picking up nine wickets in just three innings of the T20I series against the hosts earlier this month.
The 19-year-old made his ODI debut back in December last year, and has featured in just a couple of 50-overs matches for South Africa to date. South Africa’s away ODI series against Australia will commence with the opener on Tuesday, August 19 at the Cazaly’s Stadium in Cairns.
Ishan Kishan Ruled Out Of Duleep Trophy, Easwaran To Lead
Ishan Kishan has been ruled out of the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2025 season. The blistering wicketkeeper-batter still has a few stitches in his hand owing to his unfortunate e-bike accident. In the absence of Kishan, Abhimanyu Easwaran will lead the East Zone team in the tournament.
He is currently recovering at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. While the injury is not serious, Ishan Kishan has been advised to take a rest as a precaution.
Marnus Labuschagne Signs BBL Extension With Brisbane Heat
Australian Test and ODI star Marnus Labuschagne has signed a new deal with Brisbane Heat for the upcoming BBL 2025-26 season later this year. The cricketer is set to reprise his role for the Heat, and the upcoming season will complete 10 seasons for him in association with the franchise. The BBL 2025-26 season will also coincide with Australia’s Ashes 2025-26 campaign against England at home.
Marnus Labuschagne, who gets to play only a handful games for Brisbane Heat every BBL season, will once again be expected to turn up for them partially amid a potential Ashes recall for Australia after West Indies tour snub.
Sarfaraz Khan Tons Swift Ton In Buchi Babu 2025
Mumbai batter and India’s forgotten star Sarfaraz Khan shot himself back into Test reckoning with a sensational century in the Buchi Babu 2025 tournament. Batting at number six, the cricketer completed his century from just 92 balls against TNCA XI on Day 1 of the match. The 27-year-old last played a Test for Team India back in November 2024 at the Wankhede Stadium against New Zealand. Despite scoring a century in that series, Sarfaraz Khan did not receive a single crack in the playing XI in the subsequent tour of Australia, and was excluded from India’s recently-concluded series in England.
