In a significant development, South Africa have made a significant addition to their ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against Australia as the Temba Bavuma-led side have roped in seamer Kwena Mapahaka, who was initially not part of the list.

The ICC took to social media platforms to update about the significant change as South Africa are all set to lock horns against the Men in Yellow on Tuesday, August 19.

Kwena Maphaka Added To The ODI Squad

Notably, Kwena Maphaka was part of South Africa's T20I set-up and played the third match at the same venue, which will host the first ODI.

The 22-year-old had a great T20I series, where he took nine wickets in three innings, which included a four-wicket haul in the first T20I, his career-best figures in the shortest format of the match.

Talking about Maphaka, he shone bright in his debut ODI series, where he took five wickets in 2 innings against Pakistan.

Bavuma Drops Major Hint On Brevis' ODI Debut

On the eve of the first ODI, Bavuma spoke to the press, where he dropped a major hint on Brevis' ODI future and stated that the 22-year-old is most likely to make his debut.

"It's always exciting when you see the young faces. Obviously, the big talk has been on Brevis, (he's been) putting up his hand and showing what he is capable of. (I'm) excited to see what he can also bring within the one-day stuff," remarked Bavuma as quoted by ICC.

Notably, Brevis was on a roll in the T20I series, where the right-handed batter finished as the leading run-getter, including a century and a fifty-plus score.
