The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will reportedly hold a press conference in Mumbai on Tuesday, August 19 to announce the Indian squad for the upcoming 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup, contrary to the earlier reports. Earlier in the day, several reports indicated that the BCCI will only be announcing India Women’s squad for the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup later this year.
However, it seems like chief selector Ajit Agarkar will also be confirming India men squad for the Asia Cup in the same presser.
Asia Cup, Women’s World Cup Squad To Be Announced At PC
Earlier on Monday, August 18; a report indicated that the BCCI will be holding a press conference in Mumbai on August 19 just to announce India Women squad for the 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup.
However, Times of India editor Gaurav Gupta has now confirmed on X that the squad for the Indian men’s team for the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup is also currently on BCCI’s radar for the press conference.
It is worth noting that the adverse weather conditions in Mumbai might hinder BCCI’s plans of hosting a press conference in Mumbai on August 19.
Nonetheless, it remains to be seen in which direction the Indian selection committee will go while selecting India Men’s squad for the 2025 T20 Asia Cup. Earlier reports indicated that senior pros like Shubman Gill will not be included in the Indian team for the tournament. Moreover, Mohammed Shami is also reportedly not in BCCI’s plans, while questions lingered over Jasprit Bumrah’s position for a while until the paceman himself confirmed his availability.
