Former Australia speedster Shaun Tait has reportedly submitted his application for the vacant role of Kerala head coach position.

A report from Onmanorama stated that Tait is among the ten applicants to become Kerala's head coach.

Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) is looking for a new head coach ahead of the upcoming 2024-25 domestic season as their previous coach, M Venkataramana, stepped down citing personal reasons.

It is worth noting that Tait had also applied for the Punjab head coach position, but he was pipped by Wasim Jaffer.

“We have received over 45 applicants for the head coach role of the Punjab senior team. Two of the prominent names are former India opener Wasim Jaffer and former Australia speedster Shaun Tait. The process is still underway, and we will announce the name by next week,” a Punjab Cricket Association official was quoted as saying by The Indian Express last month.

Talking about the Kerala team, they are still searching for their first Ranji title, and have to shortlist their next head coach soon as the Indian domestic season starts with the Duleep Trophy, a four-team red-ball competition, from the first week of September.

Meanwhile, the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 will get underway from October 11, with the final slated for February 26.
