Delhi Capitals Women are set to square off against Royal Challengers Bangalore Women in Match 7 of Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 on Thursday, February 28, at Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The Delhi Capitals, after a losing start to their campaign, will look to consolidate their position with a strong performance against RCB-W.

The Capitals' journey in the tournament thus far has been a story of strong character and recovery.

After a disappointing loss to the defending champions, Mumbai Indians Women, by a margin of 4 wickets in a high-scoring opener, Delhi Capitals Women bounced back convincingly in their second match. They dominated UP Warriorz with a comprehensive 9-wicket victory to announce their arrival in the tournament.

Central to Delhi's resurgence has been the formidable opening pair of Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma. Both players have been in stellar form, contributing significant runs at the top, including impressive fifties that laid the foundation for their recent win. Their roles will be vital as they prepare to face RCB, with expectations high for another solid start.

The middle order is bolstered by the talents of Jemimah Rodrigues, Alice Capsey, Marizanne Kapp, and Annabel Sutherland, each bringing a different skill set to the table.

Rodrigues and Capsey, despite not batting in the previous game, have shown their mettle earlier in the tournament with quickfire scores of 75 and 42, respectively.

Marizanne Kapp emerged as a key player in the last outing, with the ball, claiming three wickets for a mere five runs, earning her the Player of the Match award. Sutherland, on the other hand, has had a quieter tournament.

Delhi's strategy might see a tweak, considering the performance dynamics. Jess Jonassen could potentially replace Sutherland, given her proven track record in T20 cricket as an effective, economical bowler who can also take vital wickets. Taniya Bhatia will retain her place as the wicketkeeper.

The bowling department, featuring Arundhati Reddy, Radha Yadav—who impressed with a four-wicket haul in the last match—Shikha Pandey, and Minnu Mani, is expected to play a significant role in Delhi's game plan against RCB.
