The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 is heating up, and the action now shifts to Warner Park, Basseterre, where the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots (SKN) will clash with the in-form Guyana Amazon Warriors (GUY) on Thursday, September 5.

Both sides are eager to stamp their authority, with the Patriots fighting to break their losing streak, while the Warriors are riding high after a winning start.

SKN vs GUY: Team Previews

St Kitts & Nevis Patriots

St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, currently languishing in fifth place, have managed only one win from their three outings. Back-to-back losses have put them on shaky ground, and they’ll be itching to reverse their fortunes.

Despite posting a mammoth total of 201/3 in their last game against Saint Lucia Kings, they fell short in defending it, losing by five wickets. Evin Lewis was the star of the show, smashing a breathtaking 100 off 54 balls, while Kyle Mayers also stood tall with a brilliant 92 off 62 deliveries. However, the rest of the batting lineup crumbled under pressure, with Andre Fletcher and Sherfane Rutherford failing to fire.

Their bowling unit, too, had a day to forget. Ashmead Nedd and Tabraiz Shamsi were taken to the cleaners, leaking 46 (3 overs) and 41 runs (2 overs), respectively, in their short spells. Kyle Mayers picked up two wickets but was expensive, conceding 38 runs in two overs.

The saving grace was Anrich Nortje, who bowled with pace and accuracy, finishing with figures of 2/29. If the Patriots are to bounce back, their bowlers must step up to the plate and deliver to clinch their second win of CPL 2024.

Guyana Amazon Warriors

On the other hand, Guyana Amazon Warriors are brimming with confidence, having started their campaign with a comprehensive seven-wicket win over the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons. Led by the experienced Imran Tahir, they sit in fourth place with two points and will be eager to keep the momentum going.

Their bowling attack looked sharp in their opener, with Gudakesh Motie spinning a web around the Falcons, picking up 3/25. However, Shamar Joseph had a tough outing, being hammered for 50 runs in his four wicketless overs, while Tahir, uncharacteristically, also went wicketless.

Guyana’s batting lineup, however, ensured the chase was a comfortable one. Shai Hope anchored the innings with a composed 41 off 34 balls, while Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Shimron Hetmyer, Romario Shepherd, and Dwaine Pretorius all contributed valuable runs with the South African's last-over heroics clinching the win.

Azam Khan, though, had an off day, but he’ll be looking to bounce back as the Warriors aim to make it two wins in a row.
