Chinnaswamy Stadium Pitch Report: Balanced surface on offer

BCCI, the richest cricket board, in recent times have kept an eye on how the pitches behave in domestic circuit, and as a result, the pitch at the Chinnaswamy Stadium will be a sporting one for the opening contest.

Generally, in Test cricket, Chinnaswamy Stadium has always been a productive wicket for both batters and bowlers. The last time this venue hosted a Test match, it was between India and Sri Lanka in 2022.

While India scored nearly 550 runs (combined 1st and 2nd innings), Sri Lanka struggled to get the runs on the board and lost the match by 238 runs.

Before that, India hosted Afghanistan in 2018, and the home team scored 474 runs in their first innings. However, the bowlers had something on offer for them. Team India are set to travel to Australia in the month of November, and judging by the pitches there, the curator is expected to make a spicier wicket, with focus on balanced game of cricket.

Expect the pace bowlers to utilise the moisture early morning on the first two days, and then the spinners to come into play from Day 3. With two quality sides on offer, expect some runs on the board as well.
