Pakistan won the series Vs England [Source: @TheRealPCB/X.Com]
After losing the first Test Vs England in Multan, hardly anyone gave Pakistan a chance to seal the series. However, the home team showed their class and made a couple of tweaks to win the series against a resilient English side on Saturday.
After the embarrassing defeat in first Test, Pakistan made a couple of bold calls by dropping out of form Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi and prepared a spin surface to counter the aggressive English batters. The result - Pakistan won the last two matches to win the series.
The hero for Pakistan were the spin duo of Sajid Khan and Noman Ali, as the deadly spin pair picked up 19 England wickets out of the possible 20 to wreak havoc. The England batters failed to read the duo as Pakistan came from 1-0 down to seal the deal in emphatic style.
Now the big question arises, with this win, can Pakistan still qualify for the WTC final?
Can Pakistan qualify for WTC finals? Here's the answer
Unfortunately, the race for the WTC finale is over for the Pakistan side. Despite winning the last two Tests, Pakistan had a poor run of form in this WTC cycle, and hence, it has costed them a golden chance to sneak through.
Pakistan are currently at the 7th position in the WTC points table, with a win percentage of 33.33. They have three Tests remaining, but even if they win the next three games, Pakistan's win percentage will still be lower than the teams above them.
Pakistan had a shambolic performance Vs Bangladesh, a couple of months ago. They lost that series, 2-0, and if the results would have been positive for Pakistan in that series, things would have been different for them.
