Unwanted Records Created By Pakistan After Disastrous Test Series Defeat Vs Bangladesh

In a shocking turn of events, Pakistan suffered their first-ever Test series defeat to Bangladesh, crashing to a 2-0 whitewash on Tuesday (September 3) in Rawalpindi. This loss not only marked a historic low for Pakistan but also saw them accumulating a slew of unwanted records, leaving fans and cricket pundits aghast.

Pakistan's historic series loss to Bangladesh sparks unwanted records

Bangladesh, previously winless against Pakistan in Test cricket, chased down 185 runs with six wickets in hand on Day 5 of the second Test, marking the third-highest successful chase in their Test history.

Meanwhile, Pakistan had to settle with several records they'd rather forget:

  • Second Home Whitewash: Pakistan endured their second-ever Test series whitewash at home. The first came at the hands of England in the 2022/23 season, where they were defeated 3-0.
  • Longest Winless Streak at Home: Pakistan has now gone ten consecutive home Tests without a win, including six defeats and four draws. This is the longest winless streak for any team in the current century, excluding Zimbabwe and Bangladesh.
  • Beaten by All Full Member Nations: Pakistan have now lost a Test series at home to each of the ten oldest Full Member nations. They are only the second team after Bangladesh to achieve this unwanted record.

Will Pakistan cricket see glory again?

The second Test highlighted Pakistan's rapid decline in the purest format. Despite reducing Bangladesh to a dismal 26/6 in the first innings, they allowed the visitors to recover and post 262, thanks to a stunning century by Litton Das.

Pakistan then collapsed in their second innings for 172, with Hasan Mahmud taking five wickets. In cricket, when it rains, it pours, and for Pakistan, this series was nothing short of a deluge of disappointment. With these unwanted records now etched in history, Pakistan's path to redemption looks more challenging than ever.
