India had a miserable time in the second Test match against New Zealand at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Talking about the match, earlier, on Day 1, the Kiwis, after winning the toss, opted to bat first and made 259 runs. Washington Sundar was the star performer for India, as he scalped seven wickets and conceded 59 runs.
However, in response, Rohit Sharma and Co got off to a shaky start, with no top-order batter performing up to the expectations. The Indian team bundled out for 156 with no remarkable contribution from the home side.
New Zealand Outplayed India In Pune
In New Zealand second innings, spinners did the job for India and restricted New Zealand to 255. However, Tom Latham played a gritty knock and made 86 runs in 133 balls. In India's second innings, it would not be wrong to say that New Zealand completely outplayed India.
The home team started the post-lunch session at 81/1 after India faced an early setback in the form of Rohit Sharma, who had another poor outing with the bat yet again and departed for a mere eight runs. In the second session, Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal made a small partnership and tried to gain momentum after Shubman Gill was the first wicket in the second session.
Youngstar Yashasvi Jaiswal made valuable contribution with the bat and scored 77 runs off 65 but as he departed no other player was able to stabilise the innings. Virat Kohli continued with his flop show and was once again deceived by Mitchell Santner with a peach delivery.
After Kohli's departure, Rishabh Pant faced an unfortunate run-out and departed for a 3-ball duck. Later on, Sarfaraz Khan also departed with a stunning delivery from none other than Mitchell Santner. It is important to mention that after Jaiswal's departure, the Indian batting collapsed like a pack of cards. New Zealand defeated India by 113 runs and this is first time New Zealand have won the Test series in India in 69 years.
After India's shameful defeat at the home soil, fans took to social media and made brutal comments. So in this article, let's take a look at the Twitter reactions.
