Buttler Out, RCB Star To Open With Salt; England's Strongest Playing XI For Australia T20Is

England suffered a massive setback ahead of the white-ball assignment against Australia, with a calf injury ruling out skipper Jos Buttler from the T20I leg. Swashbuckling batter Phil Salt, who opens with Buttler for Manchester Originals in The Hundred, has been picked as England's captain for Australia T20Is.

Despite ignoring veteran cricketers Jonny Bairstow and Moeen Ali, England have a formidable squad comprising several famous names from The Hundred competition. The likes of Jordan Cox, Jacob Bethell, Dan Mousley, and Brydon Carse can certainly pose a serious threat to the Aussies, thanks to their match-winning ability in white-ball cricket.

Furthermore, Buttler's injury setback will have little impact on England's top order, as they have one of the deadliest opening pair of Phil Salt and Will Jacks. Besides capitalising on the powerplay field restrictions, Jacks can also be handy with his off-spin bowling. So, as a multidimensional player, he adds immense value to the English line-up.

England to have an all-rounder heavy playing XI in Australia T20Is

Jordan Cox will be the perfect player to replace the recently retired Dawid Malan at three, followed by Jacob Bethell, Liam Livingstone, and Dan Mousley at four, five, and six, respectively. Seam bowling all-rounders Sam Curran and Jamie Overton will likely be slotted in the lower middle order, ensuring flexibility and batting depth in the English team.

Jofra Archer, who was impressive with the ball in The Hundred 2024, will play as the frontline pacer alongside Reece Topley. Veteran cricketer Adil Rashid will lead England's spin bowling attack, as he can bamboozle the opposition with his variations.
